Last season’s Champions League finalists start their 2019-20 campaign away to Olympiacos on Wednesday night.
Tottenham Hotspur will be looking to get off to a winning start if they’re to give Bayern Munich a run for their money in finishing top of Group B.
The English Premier League side have the talent to do just that coming off the back of a 4-0 thrashing of Crystal Palace on Saturday.
Though it was only Spurs’ second win in five domestically, they are a much better team on paper than the hosts.
I am aware that Olympiacos have a good record at home in Europe but I don’t see them holding the top teams and certainly not beating them at the Karaiskakis Stadium in Athens.
Christian Eriksen has fallen out of favour with Mauricio Pocettino and Dele Alli is sidelined, which does take away a lot of Spurs’ creativity. However, they have goals in Harry Kane if they can get him the ball.
Heung-min Son, Erik Lamela and Lucas Moura are all capable of that, as well as scoring goals themselves.
Tottenham have been shaky at the back to start the new season but I have faith in them to outscore the hosts this week.
